IMO REPORTERS gathered that Sergeant Otu Attang, who survived the attack will also be given a special promotion for his gallantry. The late officers to be promoted, according to the Punch are; Sergeants Chukwudi Iboko and Sunday Agbo. 

According to the commissioner, Atang, who escaped death, is being treated at the police hospital in Owerri as an out-patient by three surgeons including an ophthalmologist looking into his wounded eye.
